An open inspection allows several prospective tenants to view your property at the same time and can reduce the need for multiple private appointments.
Before the inspection:
- Add the inspection time to your property listing so prospective tenants know when to attend.
- If the property is currently tenanted, follow your state or territory's notice and access requirements before arranging an inspection.
- Ask the current tenant to make the property reasonably accessible to visitors, while respecting their privacy and belongings.
- Make sure you have application information ready, including your online application QR code, where available.
On the day:
- Arrive early and make sure the property is safe and ready for visitors.
- Open curtains and blinds and present the property as well as possible.
- Remove obvious trip or safety hazards.
- Use signage or provide access instructions if the property may be difficult to find.
- Greet prospective tenants and be available to answer questions about the property, weekly rent, availability, parking and other important details.
- Give visitors enough space to look around without feeling rushed.
- Explain how to apply and where they can find the application form or QR code.
If the property is currently occupied, remember that the tenant still has privacy and access rights while the property is being advertised. Notice periods, inspection frequency and entry requirements vary across Australia, so check the current rules for the state or territory where your property is located.
Your Open for Inspection QR code and other rental resources are available through MyPlace under Listing Resources.
