Q: How do I take great property photos?
A:
Good photos are one of the most important parts of your property advertisement. You don't need expensive equipment - a modern smartphone can produce great results if you follow a few basics.
- Use natural light: Shoot during the day, open curtains and blinds, and turn on interior lights.
- Shoot horizontally: Landscape photos generally work best on property websites and show more of the room.
- Keep the camera straight: Hold it around chest height and avoid tilting up or down.
- Find the best angle: Photograph from corners or doorways and try several angles before choosing the best shot.
- Keep it realistic: Avoid excessive wide-angle effects or editing that makes rooms or features appear different from reality.
- Cover the key areas: Include the front exterior, living areas, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, outdoor areas and important features such as views, pools, sheds or garages.
- Take plenty, then select the best: You don't need to use every photo. Choose the clearest and most appealing images, with particular attention to your main photo, as this is often the first image buyers see in search results.
