Good photography can make a big difference to how your property presents online. The aim is to make your home look clean, bright, spacious, and welcoming so buyers can picture themselves living there.
Outside:
- Mow the lawns and tidy the gardens, trees, and shrubs.
- Remove rubbish bins, hoses, tools, toys, and unnecessary vehicles from view.
- Sweep paths, decks, and entrance areas.
- Clean the windows and outdoor entertaining areas.
- Tidy the garage and any visible storage areas.
- Make minor repairs where something looks damaged or neglected.
- Arrange for pets to be out of the way during the photography session.
Pay particular attention to the front of the property, as this may become the main image buyers see in search results.
Inside:
- Clear clutter from benches, tables, shelves, and floors.
- Make the beds and arrange cushions and furniture neatly.
- Put away toiletries, laundry, cables, bins, and pet items.
- Clear the kitchen benches and give the kitchen and bathrooms extra attention.
- Vacuum the floors and clean windows, mirrors, and other visible surfaces.
- Open curtains and blinds to maximise natural light.
- Make sure all lights and light fittings are working.
Keep the styling simple. A few well-placed cushions, fresh towels, or a plant can help, but avoid overcrowding the rooms.
Before the photographer arrives, complete one final walk-through and remove anything you do not want appearing in your online advertisement.
